With summer now in our collective rear-views, it is time to focus on more autumnal activities. It may even be time to consider planning for the upcoming winter months, because – per the usual – those suckers always tend to creep up on us without warning. Before we know it, we are looking Christmas right in the face, and the time spent from Halloween till the end of December just seems to fly right by – albeit with a delicious pitstop for Thanksgiving along the way.
In the fall (and winter) the main duty for the majority of folks in this country is eat like kings with reckless abandon for their waistlines. We tend to think that we have “earned” this gluttonous portion of the year, and to be completely honest, it is hard not to think that way. In the spring, and even in the beginning weeks of the summer season, we are immensely concerned with body image – sometimes to a fault. We are all desperately dieting and exercising in hopes of attaining that always-desirable beach bod.
While some are able to maintain such a physique year-round, the majority of us always struggle with our weight, and find these moments of strict diet and exercise to be a tremendous chore. Which is why it is always nice to let the cold winter months force everyone into layering their clothes and outfits, and subsequently excessive partying and cuisine take center stage once again during these holiday months.

Not only are massive meals chock full of carbs a mainstay during these frigid weeks, but alcohol tends to make a major resurgence once the temperatures start to plummet. For better or worse, libations of all sorts are more common this time of year, and most say it helps “keep them warm” when the weather starts to get rough. Which is all well and good, but we must always remind our readers and fellow enthusiasts to always drink responsibly. Nobody wants to be “that guy” who ruins a gathering after one too many. In fact, that is why most marijuana enthusiasts tend to stick to cannabis when they start to see their family and friends go off the deep end with their winter-related alcohol consumptions.
But the two don’t always need to be so separate. As I alluded to above, it is all about moderation – especially when it comes to drinking. But the same could (and should) be applied to every facet of life. Too much of one thing is never good, but a little of “both”…well, that will hit you just right, in my personal opinion. Which is why I have decided to share with you, my fellow stoners (and sippers) this absolutely amazing recipe for some Marijuana-Infused Mango-Strawberry Sangria.
For those who may have only heard their aunt’s wax poetic about Sangria, and don’t know exactly what it is, allow me to clumsily give you a brief breakdown. Essentially, it is a light cocktail, normally reserved for summer outings, but the warming elements of this fruity cocktail can be utilized at any point during the year – it is really that delicious. And folks who are familiar with Sangria, and its many interpretations, know exactly what I am talking about.

This fruit-centric spirit is tremendously enjoyable on its own, but what if I told you there was a cannabis-related way to kick this already-legendary drink up a notch (or two)? If you are already smiling at the notion, much like I was, then this following recipe is sure to be hit at all of your Halloween parties, Thanksgiving gatherings, or just for a quick nip at the end of a long day.
However, before we dive headfirst into this truly unique concoction, let’s make sure you have all the necessary ingredients for this one-of-a-kind recipe.

Instructions

  • First and foremost, you are going to need some cannabis. Duh. But you won’t need as much as you would for other, let’s say edible recipes. Those tend to require at least a half ounce of finely ground bud in order for their final product to elicit any sort of potency. Seeing as how alcohol will also play a factor in this creation, there is not a whole lot of bud needed to be infused into this already intoxicatingly delicious beverage. Which is why you will only need (roughly) an 1/8th or so of broken down nugs.
  • If you are lucky enough to procure all of those aforementioned items, then I would strongly suggest rolling up your sleeves, and getting ready to create some of the most amazing THC-enriched Sangria that you have ever had.
  • Of course, with any THC-infused homemade treat, you are going to want to decarb your cannabis in order to activate that beloved psychoactive ingredient, THC, from your bud. I would suggest doing that in the oven at around 240° for a little over a half hour – but don’t overdo it, because that could ultimately burn and ruin your nugs – so be sure to keep an eye on it during this first step.
  • Once that initial step is completed, use your cheesecloth as a sort of makeshift tea bag, and place your newly carboxylated cannabis inside of it. Feel free to use some twine or string to tighten it up at the top, so as not to let any of the floral contents spill out. After you have successfully constructed a DIY tea bag for your bud, place it inside your bottle of white rum.
  • Make sure the lid of the bottle of rum is nice and tightly closed before you toss that baby in the refrigerator. Now, you should let this tea bag of THC mix and mingle with its rum counterparts for at least a day, but the longer you keep it in there, the more THC will be infused into your beverage. In this case, patience is not only a virtue, it is a great way to guarantee potency.
  • While that is taking place, grab your strawberry supply and start cutting those suckers in half – and remove those pesky stems. Also, dice up those mangoes, party people. You are going to want a lot of fruity flavors for this unique Sangria, that is for sure.
  • Then, grab a saucepan. In it, toss in the water, roughly half of your newly diced strawberries, and the sugar. Allow that combined concoction to come to a boil, after that allow the saucepan full of greatness to simmer. After keeping a vigilant eye on this mixture, let it cool back down to a nice room temperature before grabbing a straining device. With that sieve-esque component, strain that strawberry syrup into a container, and place it alongside its rum-buddy in the fridge.
  • At this point, you are going to want to grab a sturdy pitcher. Then grab the remaining strawberries and your whole supply of mangoes, and toss ‘em in there. Atop that, grab your strawberry syrup and gently pour it in, along with 1 cup of Sauvignon Blanc, 1 cup of Cannabis-infused Rum, and some orange juice – be sure to mix them together enough to allow the various flavors to intricately mingle with one another.
  • Then, toss that pitcher into your fridge for a handful of hours to let those scrumptious tastes reach peak “chillness.”

Notes

When your friends and family come over, grab some glasses and that pitcher from the fridge – but don’t forget to add a couple cups of club soda and some remaining fruit to the mix to give a little carbonation and added flavor. This last second addition goes a long way – trust me.
That, my friends, is it. You have just created an amazing batch of Marijuana Mango-Strawberry Sangria! Nicely done.
Now all you have to do is sit back, relax, and (literally) enjoy the fruits of your labor.
Happy holidays!
