The Jack Herer Weekendr disposable by Select is precisely the kind of product that can change someone’s mind about a dispensary.

The Select brand is sold throughout Las Vegas, so you don’t have to swing by Blackjack Collective to pick some up. However, one advantage that this dispensary has is its price. This small, disposable vape pen is only $15, which is about the same price as a mid-tier gram. It’s that kind of seductive pricing that lures locals (and serious stoners) into their dispensary.

Appearance 3/5
Honestly, I’m spoiled. This plain black vape pen looks fine. It’s just not as splashy as some other brands. Oh well. What are you gonna do?

Aroma 5/5
The vapor doesn’t have a very strong smell, but that’s exactly what you’re looking for when it comes to vape pens. Their key charm is that you can toke up in public. Your weed pen looks just like the next guy’s nicotine vape, so discretion is abundant with these babies.

Taste 5/5
Vape pens usually don’t produce a lot of flavor. The oil-making process is brutal on terpenes. However, this vape oil retains an earthy, weedy taste that’s comforting for a longtime smoker, like myself.

Effect 5/5
Shocker! I found yet another vape pen to fall in love with. I may be developing a problem.

I still can’t wrap my brain around the fact that these beauties are legal, let alone how potent they are. Jack Herer is a world-renowned sativa strain. The high grips your body before the vapor leaves your throat. It’s a dizzying rush that settles into a peaceful mental high. You can expect the same sharp jolt to your senses with every fresh puff. Truly incredible.

Be careful with this one, guys.

At 84% THC, there’s no way to be discreet about this pen. You’re going to be flying to the moon after your first puff, so make sure you’re in an environment where it’s okay to be high as hell. In other words, it’s probably a bad idea to smoke this vape pens five minutes before your algebra final or a job interview.

I love vape pens.

I keep up with current events, which means I’ve been reading about the flurry of worried, hand-wringing articles about the potential dangers of such products. But, even with that knowledge, I STILL love vape pens. So, the chances were pretty high that I was going to enjoy the Jack Herer Weekendr disposable by Select. And guess what? I totally did - and you will, too!

Blackjack Collective is practically on the Strip. It’s on Las Vegas Blvd., just a little bit south of The Stratosphere. Tourists naturally flock to this spot. However, the outside of the dispensary is surprisingly drab. The walls are charcoal gray, unrelieved by any lighter shades. Even the billboard announcing the dispensary’s presence is small and muted. The Denny’s next door demands more attention.

Inside, you hand your ID to the receptionist, who adds your name to a list. You can go back to the main dispensary when your name is called. This is where the experience at Blackjack Collective starts to break down.

I arrived at 9:30 am, a half an hour after opening. The building was flush with employees. Despite this, the lobby was full of annoyed-looking people when I walked in. They were all tapping their feet, looking pointedly at their watches, or letting out short, impatient grunts of anger. As the minutes dragged on, a few people began complaining.

I ended up waiting for about 15 minutes. Which doesn’t sound like much, but it makes me want to avoid coming back to Blackjack Collective. Especially when I know there are a bunch of other dispensaries in the area.

The only reason I might come back is for the staff. No one is going to win any awards for efficiency, but they’re kind, patient, and know how to yap about cannabis. Honestly, I’m torn. I’m stuck in a love-hate relationship with Blackjack Collective, and I’m not sure what to do about it.
