- 2 cups cooked chickpeas (drained and rinsed if using canned)
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
- 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon ground coriander
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon cannabis-infused oil or butter
- 2-3 tablespoons chickpea flour or all-purpose flour
- Cooking oil for frying or baking
In a food processor, combine the chickpeas, onion, garlic, parsley, cilantro, cumin, coriander, cayenne pepper, salt, black pepper, and cannabis-infused oil or butter
Pulse the mixture until well combined but still slightly chunky
Transfer the mixture to a mixing bowl and stir in the chickpea flour or all-purpose flour until the mixture holds together
Shape the mixture into small balls or patties and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper
If frying, heat cooking oil in a deep skillet over medium heat. Fry the falafel in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side. If baking, preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake the falafel for 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crispy
Once cooked, remove the falafel from the oil or oven and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil
Serve the fiery falafel with your favorite dipping sauce, salad, or in pita bread with tahini sauce and fresh veggies
- Adjust the amount of cayenne pepper to control the level of spiciness according to your preference.
- Be mindful of the potency of the cannabis-infused oil or butter and adjust the dosage accordingly.
- Leftover falafel can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days or frozen for longer storage. Reheat in the oven or toaster oven for best results.
