Equipment
- Food processor
- Mixing bowl
- Baking sheet
- Cooking oil for frying or baking
Ingredients
- 2 cups cooked chickpeas (drained and rinsed if using canned)
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
- 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon ground coriander
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon cannabis-infused oil or butter
- 2-3 tablespoons chickpea flour or all-purpose flour
- Cooking oil for frying or baking
Instructions
- In a food processor, combine the chickpeas, onion, garlic, parsley, cilantro, cumin, coriander, cayenne pepper, salt, black pepper, and cannabis-infused oil or butter
- Pulse the mixture until well combined but still slightly chunky
- Transfer the mixture to a mixing bowl and stir in the chickpea flour or all-purpose flour until the mixture holds together
- Shape the mixture into small balls or patties and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper
- If frying, heat cooking oil in a deep skillet over medium heat. Fry the falafel in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side. If baking, preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake the falafel for 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crispy
- Once cooked, remove the falafel from the oil or oven and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil
- Serve the fiery falafel with your favorite dipping sauce, salad, or in pita bread with tahini sauce and fresh veggies
Notes
- Adjust the amount of cayenne pepper to control the level of spiciness according to your preference.
- Be mindful of the potency of the cannabis-infused oil or butter and adjust the dosage accordingly.
- Leftover falafel can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days or frozen for longer storage. Reheat in the oven or toaster oven for best results.
