Forget about the flashing lights and glittery allure of the Las Vegas Strip. You’re at Top Notch, a locals dispensary straddling the barrier between East Las Vegas and Henderson. The street is industrial. A massive coal plant sprawls over the lot across the street. A funeral home is housed a couple of buildings down.

It’s hard to tell if that is due to the sheer number of customers or the small size of its showroom. You might stumble into this dispensary because its nearest competitor is nearly five miles away.

Top Notch is almost always crowded. It’s hard to tell if that is due to the sheer number of customers or the small size of its showroom. You might stumble into this dispensary because its nearest competitor is nearly five miles away.

The design is plain, but the menu is plump and the budtenders are known for being friendly. If you are looking for a neighborhood cannabis store, this is it.

Atmosphere
A security guard is posted outside the door. First, you are ushered into a small, boxed-off area to show your ID. You can’t enter the lobby until you are cleared by the receptionist. Once you are inside, grab a number and prepare to wait. Up to three people can share a number if you come with your friends. Medical patients automatically jump to the front of the line. A couple of magazine racks, a flat-screen TV mounted to the wall, and a small bowl of candy make up the entertainment options.

A heavy white door blocks the entry to the main retail space. Budtenders flit in and out as customers are called. Inside, the inventory is displayed in multiple crowded cases. When you walk inside, you will see edibles to your right. Brownies, chocolate bars, and gummies tempt you from the top shelf. Next to the edibles, you will find the most expensive buds in the store. The price drops as you curve around the room until you end up in front of the appreciation flower, arranged in several small containers on top of the display case. The store’s concentrate and vape options are set up underneath.

After you tell your budtender what you want, your order is passed on to a cashier. The process is seamless. To prevent the space from becoming clogged with customers, the number of people allowed in the showroom at a single time is restricted.

Inventory
Currently, Top Notch does not operate its own grow operation. Their entire inventory is comprised of third-party products. On any given day, the menu is stuffed with at least a dozen different strains. Fan favorites like GSC (Girl Scout Cookies), Sour Diesel, and Jack Herer dominate the list.

For such a small dispensary, Top Notch has a pretty expansive range of products. All of their pre-rolls are at least one gram, with the exception of the Baby J’s, a line of mini joints. In addition to traditional pre-rolls, you can also find infused joints and blunts.

Their stock of concentrates is extensive. You can find nug-run, boutique concentrates for connoisseurs, affordable options for people who are just starting out, and everything between.

Prices
If you have ever been to a Las Vegas dispensary, you are familiar with exit bags. This tamper-resistant packaging is used to deter underage consumption. Try to keep one handy for your trip to Top Notch. The dispensary charges $1 per bag. That fee is waived if you bring your own.

Top Notch is one of the few weed stores in town that bundles taxes into their prices. You don’t need a calculator to figure out how much you are going to pay at the register. Remember to add a $1 if you don’t have an exit bag.

The flower is divided into three groups: appreciation, standard, and premium. If you are interested in economy, take a look at the appreciation buds. Grams are $12 while an eighth will set you back $33. The tier designations aren’t rigid. Occasionally, there will be a flash sale and you can pick up premium flower for appreciation prices.

A standard gram costs between $15 and $17. An eighth is $50. If you are looking for superior flower, it’ll cost you $20 for a gram.

Premiums grams cost $20. Eighths are $55.

One-gram pre-rolls range from $12 to $26. According to its website, Top Notch has sold over 113,212 pre-rolls since it opened. A non-infused, premium one-gram preroll costs $20 while a standard one-gram preroll costs $17 or $18. An appreciation joint costs between $12 and $16.

Top Notch offers a decent range of concentrates. One the economy end, you can sometimes find a half-gram of shatter for $20 and a half-gram of crumble. Vape cartridges and pens can be had for as little as $24.

There’s no rewards or loyalty points system. You can, however, get a free pre-roll on your birthday. You need to show ID and spend at least $10.

Conclusion
Top Notch is a small dispensary on an out of the way corner bordering Henderson. It lacks the size of some of its competitors, yet has a menu diverse enough to rival any in town.

Its simple pricing system makes the dispensary an attractive spot for locals as well as any tourists who happen to be in the area. Because there are no loyalty points, repeat visits are not rewarded. A tourist pays the same price as a local.

The three-tier system makes it easy to find buds that suit your needs. If you are searching for high-THC flower, the percentages are listed. If you are tempted by scent, each of the sample cannabis jars are dotted with holes. The smell may be faded, but you can often still catch a whiff of the original aroma.

Top Notch lacks the bells and whistles of a glamorous Las Vegas cannabis store. However, it serves a wide range of customers. 643,271 customers have been served so far. The reviews are overwhelmingly positive.

Review of Top Notch Dispensary, Henderson

October 19, 2024

I have been a regular customer at Top Notch in Henderson, located near Russell and Stephanie. While my transactions typically run smoothly, my most recent visit was disappointing, raising concerns about their customer service and loyalty program policies.

After saving up my loyalty points for quite some time, I decided to redeem them during my visit. However, when I reached the counter, I was informed that I could not use my loyalty points, with no clear explanation provided. The staff member claimed the system wasn’t allowing the points to be applied, which left me confused and frustrated. Despite this, I offered to pay $21 for a total that I believed was $35, expecting to at least cover the taxes. To my surprise, the transaction still could not be processed.

In an effort to resolve the situation, I asked to speak to a manager. The manager was respectful and attempted to explain that, per Nevada law, they could not allow loyalty points to cover taxes. I completely understand and respect that, but the issue here is much larger. My frustration stems from the lack of clarity, inconsistent policies, and poor staff training. There are no clear guidelines or written policies on how their loyalty program works, leading to confusion for both the customers and the employees.

Furthermore, the fact that I was asked to wait nearly 30 minutes for an issue that could have been resolved quickly is unacceptable. When I inquired further, they simply handed me a printout of Nevada’s cannabis tax laws—something I could have easily looked up on my phone. After working an 18-hour shift, all I wanted was to make a simple, smooth purchase so I could unwind, but instead, I was met with unnecessary delays and confusion.

As a customer, I expect dispensaries—especially ones that market themselves as professional and customer-focused—to have clear procedures in place, especially for loyalty programs. Instead, this experience felt disorganized, and I was left feeling like my business wasn’t valued. If the owners continue to change the rules on the fly, they’re undermining the professionalism and legitimacy that dispensaries should be aiming for in a legal, regulated industry.

I will not be returning to this dispensary unless I receive a formal apology from the owner and assurance that their policies and customer service procedures are corrected. Until then, I would recommend that prospective customers seek out other dispensaries in the area where transparency and customer care are prioritized.
