‘Breaking Bad’ Joins Forces With Major Marijuana Company

How Cannabis Helps Different Types Of Chronic Pain

If you are anything like me, you enjoy packing a hearty bowl of high-quality buds, kicking back, and seeing what the ol’ “boob tube” has to offer. In my personal opinion, there are few things more enjoyable (and more relaxing) than chilling out after a long day with some potent products and seeing what there is to binge-watch. With the army of streaming services that make themselves available these days, it is hard not to get lost in (at least) a few television series at a time.

Sure, there is a lengthy list of situation-comedies and informative documentaries that the average stoner can get lost in, but to be completely honest, none will ever come close to reaching the level of intense entertainment that Vince Gilligan’s Breaking Bad was able to achieve during its incredible run on the AMC network.

The mind-blowing tale of Walter White, going from cancer-riddled Chemistry teacher to full-blown drug lord, was one filled with gripping twists and unforgettable turns. Each and every episode had the fans on the edges of their couches, anxiously contemplating what could possibly happen next. Somehow, the brilliant team of writers, lead by Gilligan, always found new ways to surprise the audience, without frustrating them with any sort of unbelievable nonsense. In fact, the gritty realism of this epic show is what makes it so legendary. I would even go so far as to say it is not only the best show of the last 20 years – it may very well be the best show of all-time.

I know for a fact that I am not alone in making such a sentiment. Not only were the plot lines and characters expertly crafted and delivered, but every angle; every shot was exquisite and absolutely breathtaking. The cinematography and directing choices served as artistic foundations to this fantastic story. These are only a few of the many reasons why Breaking Bad is widely considered to be a flawless series. Many argue that it set the tone for new dramas in the same field, and you would be hard-pressed to find anyone who would go against such a statement. It truly is that iconic.

While the cast was lengthy and full of amazing actors throughout its many years on television, the two main men, Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul) and Walter White (Bryan Cranston) became household names overnight due to the overwhelming success of the series. And justifiably so – these two played off one another expertly, and the arc of their relationship throughout the course of Walter’s rise to drug lord stardom was unlike anything else the viewing public had ever seen.

What is even better about this series is they didn’t flub the finale. Which is something that, sadly, has become more and more prevalent over the past handful of years. Many Game of Thrones fans found themselves bummed out by their lackluster curtain call to their beloved, lengthy mythical series. The same could be said for how The Sopranos went with a “Choose Your Own Ending” type ending for their iconic show. I am sorry, I know that may rub certain fanatics of the HBO series the wrong way, but there is no getting around how lame that exit was. For them to simply go to a blackout screen and have a Journey song play, instead of giving their fanbase an actual ending seemed like a tremendous cop-out – and subsequently left a sour taste in the mouths of the millions who reliably watched it every week for years.

But Vince Gilligan made sure to avoid any of those negative aspects with his detailed approach to the end of Walter White’s story. Without giving away any spoilers to any of the few folks left who haven’t had the pleasure of diving into Breaking Bad yet, Walter White’s story ended – as the dramatic saga of Jesse Pinkman just got back up and running – or, in his case, driving.

The show was such a smash hit, a prequel-esque spin-off series was started, focusing on the trials and tribulations of Walter White’s seedy lawyer, Saul Goodman (played by the multi-talented Bob Odenkirk, formerly of Mr. Show fame) titled, Better Call Saul. This show, itself, has won its fair share of much-deserved Emmy’s and accolades, and it is likely to win handfuls more before it is all said and done.

While Better Call Saul is tremendous in its own right, die-hard Breaking Bad fans couldn’t help but speculate what might have happened to their beloved Jesse Pinkman as he drove off into the bleak desert darkness, beating his steering wheel in an emotion-filled scene.

Well, it appears as though Vince Gilligan and company have always been plagued with that lingering wonder, as well, so they decided to give the fans what they wanted – a lengthy telling of Jesse Pinkman’s journey – post Breaking Bad and Walter White, in a new Netflix original movie titled, El Camino. Which is slated to hit the popular streaming service Friday, October 11th.

With any new film that hits theaters (or in this case, streaming services) a bit of advertising is needed in order to get the word out. With Vince Gilligan being at the helm, you knew things were going to be a little more clever than usual. Sure enough, this week the official Breaking Bad twitter account released a very cryptic message in hopes of stirring up even more excitement for the upcoming film, El Camino.

The message read, “Smoke it if you got it, but see Badger if you don’t. 21+. 34° 4’29.6” N 118° 23’ .9” W”

Which may look like a bunch of gobbedly-gook to most, but it is actual specific coordinates to a marijuana dispensary, MedMen, located in West Hollywood. Badger (played by Matt Jones), for those unaware, was one of Jesse’s closest companions in the Breaking Bad series, and for lack of a better term, the dude was a major marijuana enthusiast.

Followers of the official twitter account who figured out the coordinates, not only saw actor Matt Jones at this local dispensary signing posters for the movie, but he also was handing out tickets to the film’s premiere. How cool is that? It was a bit of a cannabis-infused scavenger hunt for the Breaking Bad fanatics out there – and it was just another testament to the immensely admirable creativity that Vince Gilligan (and his team) showcase on a routine basis.

The fun thing is that this won’t be the only destination wherein a secret location will be tweeted out for fans to flock to. They plan on releasing other coded messages to their followers in cities such as San Francisco, New York City, Chicago, and of course Albuquerque. So, if you happen to live in (or near) any of these areas, be on the lookout for one of these location-related messages in your twitter feed.

Who knows, if you are lucky enough to decode such a statement before any others, you may just find yourself face to face with one of the iconic characters from the hit series, handing you an exclusive ticket to the premiere of El Camino.

Personally, that would be an absolute dream come true, and you better believe I have started following the official Breaking Bad twitter account again once this news dropped – and I strongly suggest my fellow stoners do the same. You will be happy you did.
