Key Lime Pie by Cannabiotix is a popular strain. The flowers are among the most expensive in Show Grow’s menu.

Appearance 3/5
It is green and crumbly and covered in small orange hairs. The weed doesn’t look bad, but it doesn’t look exciting either. If Show Grow’s inventory hadn’t been so underwhelming, I would have chosen a different strain based on looks alone. The buds are a good size. The jar looks like it was stuffed with more than a single gram. It is a satisfying feeling, even if it’s not true.
Aroma 3/5
The smell is common. Typical. Think of old weeds plucked and left out in the sun for hours. The overall aroma is heavily plant-like. The fruity twang that hits the nostrils as the smoke clears, fades quickly.

Taste 4/5
The first taste reminded me of fruit cobbler. There is a sweet flavor, but it’s mixed with spices and a bready taste. The flavor is very different than the aroma. It comes as a surprise, I expected a tongue-twisting, sour taste.

Effect 3/5
It’s hard to complain about legal weed. Key Lime Pie produces a run of the mill high that I’ve felt a million times before and will probably feel a million times again. The feeling starts slow and spreads across the muscles. As the smoke left my lungs, I felt my body relax into an easy state.

There’s a rumor bouncing around town that future pot lounges in the city are going to feature massage rooms. Please let this be true. A head-to-toe massage while you’re high is an indulgence fit for royalty. Throw in a well-cooked steak and your body will be flooded with intense sensations.

The latest batch of Key Lime Pie is testing at 22% THC.

Key Lime Pie is a middling strain for recreational users. The high isn’t very strong. However, the qualities that make it a forgettable strain for people who only care about getting stoned make it a suitable choice for many medical patients. They’re not looking for the dazzle of an out of this world high. They care about relief.

Key Lime Pie buds are saturated with limonene and myrcene. Myrcene is thought to have a sedative effect, making Key Lime Pie a potential treatment option for patients suffering from insomnia.

There’s nothing wrong with Key Lime Pie by Cannabiotix. The buds did their job. I got stoned, whiled away a bland weekday afternoon. Here’s the problem: we are living in the age of cannabis. There is so much good weed for sale it would take a lifetime to smoke it. Key Lime Pie is a boring choice in this climate. Perhaps you want to get stoned, but you still need to be semi-functional. In that case, Key Lime Pie might be perfect choice.

While I wish Show Grow had more of a variety during this visit, this strain worked perfectly for what I hoped to accomplish.

Stepping into Show Grow is like stepping inside a technology store with no computers for sale. Everything your eye scans over is gleaming white. Even the budtenders look sleek. The dispensary is located on a busy patch of Fort Apache, near a couple of strip malls. It is designed in the usual Vegas style - a lobby area separated from the main dispensary by a door.

The dispensary feels a little small. Most of their inventory is on display in glass cases. There are no smell jars, but they’re useless anyway. Even potent weed starts to smell lackluster after you’ve been handling it for a long time.

It wasn’t hard to figure out what I wanted for a simple reason - they only had one gram in stock. Growers in Oregon and Washington are complaining about a glutted market, while I’m constantly running into dispensaries that are out of grams and pre-rolls. Anyway, Key Lime Pie by Cannabiotix was what was offered, so that’s what I got.

In my Humble Opinion

In my humble opinion, I feel like every single strain is great to smoke after eating. I find that cannabis settles my stomach in ways it never would have, had I not partaken in some bud after a meal. That said, given that this bud is famous for its sweet taste and aroma, it may deliver a similar “sense memory” to your subconscious that you would feel had you actually been eating a dessert. So, it’s definitely worth trying out. And no, that is not a stupid question at all.

After Meal dessert

Whenever I see a dessert-inspired strain, I always think it’d be best after a meal. You know, like actual dessert. But is that stupid? Or are these buds actually great to enjoy after a hearty meal? Seems like they would be, given the reviewer’s assessment.

The taste of this strain is unreal. It was super sweet. I couldn’t believe it. No, it didn’t taste exactly like a pie, but c’mon, we’re talking about weed, for crying out loud.

Wow. It actually looks like the picture on the jar. That’s pretty impressive, if you ask me. Pretty dang rare for that to be the case.
