Scooby Dog Walker (Indica)

Zoinks! We found this strain on the 50% off table, and decided to purchase it almost immediately. Not just because we loved watching Scooby Doo reruns with our cereal, but we were curious to find out exactly what MedMen considered worthy of selling for “half-off.”

Appearance: 3/5

The flower had an attractive look. It’s an earthy green, with sparkling crystals and pockets of orange.

Aroma: 2/5

We popped open the plastic and found it carried a muted scent. Not particularly pungent, it was a subtle, even buttery rich aroma that was both earthy and minty. We also found it to be fairly dry, as we began to break the leaves apart for consumption.

Flavor: 3/5

The smoke carries an earthy flavor. However, it was one of the more mild tasting profiles that we’ve had in quite some time - especially for an Indica. Oh well.

Effect: 3/5

The plant gave us a high that was neither strong, nor noteworthy. We were amused, but not satisfied. We’d suggest this strain for anyone who needs a high-functioning series of effects.

Long story short -- while it’s always been our dream to hang out with Shaggy and Scooby, we would hope that they’d bring something a little better than this. Maybe save this strain for Scrappy Doo.

Consider MedMen for what it is -- a tourist trap, or a safe destination for a skeptical first-time user. Also, in Los Angeles, there’s plenty of other great places to support by “throwing down some green, to get some green,” if you know what I mean. And I sincerely hope that you do.

While browsing the MedMen website in preparation for our visit, we discovered that not only does the site allow you to browse a store-specific menu, but it allows you to select products for an in-store pickup. That was another first for us, so we ordered a few things to pick-up.

When we got there, one of their “red shirts” used their tricorder to scan our ID, before heading to a back window behind the counter to grab our purchase.

When they returned, they informed us that they were “sold out” of one of the products, but offered us a one gram joint, at a price that was five dollars cheaper.

While we didn’t necessarily want our flower weaponized into a single joint, we decided not to press the issue. These things happen, and we were still getting bud at a sweet price.

What did annoy us, however, was all the items we grabbed off the “50% Off” table didn’t ring up at a discount. Only one rang up half-off, while the rest were listed at sticker price. When we protested, they informed us that only some products were half off the sticker, and that the rest were not. Which was frustrating, to say the least.

That was annoying, and it made us rethink our impulse purchases. Not to say we don’t like to splurge every now and then, but we have a humble budget that we must keep to. But, with MedMen’s prices being so high, it’s hard for anyone in our financial situation to do that.

But none of that matters, so long as the product is of the utmost quality.
