Acapulco Gold is an original landrace strain with the origin believed to be from Acapulco, Mexico. There is no known lineage information available for this strain. It was grown on the coast, and this is how it became so potent with the THC content and has been difficult to grow indoors and obtain the same results. I am excited to try this strain and curious to see the effects due to the low THC content that is available. It is a beautiful looking bud, and the scent is not overwhelming to the nose.

Appearance 5/5
Acapulco Gold leads to it’s given name with the many orange-gold hairs that infiltrate the dark green flower. There are many trichomes surrounding the bud that give it a crystalline appearance. Acapulco Gold is a unique looking strain with smaller but fluffy buds, and it is easily broken down and not very sticky to the touch. I would give the appearance a three. It is a unique looking strain but not as impressive as others that are available.

Aroma 5/5
It has an earthy but almost sweet scent to it that doesn’t change much after being allowed to breathe for a few minutes. The scent is not overpowering and is something that is easily concealed for the more discreet user. Upon smoking, one would find the scent to be a little stronger and the small changes from sweet and earthy to a more earthy one. I would give the aroma a two, as it is very underwhelming to me, but it may be perfect for a more discreet user.

Taste 5/5
This strain was very hard to distinguish from the taste due to it being so mild. Acapulco Gold has a very similar taste to the aroma I experienced from it, sweet and earthy. It has a very smooth hit that one could easily use all day long and not get tired of the taste. It doesn’t leave one coughing or with a burning throat after consumption. I would give the taste a 4, as it is very mild and would be good for regular use.

Effect 5/5
Acapulco Gold had a quick cerebral high that faded to a relaxed, energetic state of mind. It is something that would be perfect for daytime use to keep one’s mind and body relaxed. The actual high seemed to fade within 30 minutes, leaving the after-effects for a few hours. It left me pain-free and slowed down my thoughts so I could better focus on one activity at a time. I would rate this at a four, it is good for those daytime users who need to function without the paranoia that can come from sativa strains.

Acapulco Gold is very mild tasting and smelling, which would be great for constant, daily use to help alleviate pain. It would be a great beginner strain to experience the mild effects and learn how one’s body reacts to the lower THC levels as well as the effect of the higher CBD content. I would recommend this to anyone who needs to keep a focused mind during the day and doesn’t want to be stuck on the couch from using an Indica to combat pain.

Acapulco Gold is good for relieving pain but keeping the user focused on their tasks at hand. It is good for any beginner or experienced user who wants to have something to use during the day. Even though it had an underwhelming taste and aroma to me, it has benefits that make the strain worth using.

I placed my order online through WeedMaps for The Reef Dispensaries to pick-up. When I first arrived at The Reef, it has ample parking outdoors and a very obvious entrance. It has an open and inviting atmosphere when one first walks in. After checking in with the guard at the door, I proceeded to the online order line, where I was able to pick up my order. The online pick-up line is blended with the medical line and has no additional products to look at on the way to the window. The budtender was friendly and able to find my order with just my ID, and I did not need the order number at all during the process. I did not have any questions to be answered, so it went fairly quickly during the checkout process, so I am unsure about how knowledgeable the staff is on the product. The dispensary has one mainline that has multiple displays of different products one may use in the consumption of cannabis, to look at on the way to the front to speak to a budtender. The Reef was not very busy during my time there, so I did not have a chance to see how quickly customers were able to be helped.
