With CBD being as widely available as it is these days, many people are starting to wonder, “Will CBD show up on a drug test?” That is a tremendously valid concern, and one that shouldn’t be brushed aside, especially if your job depends on it.

Now, before I get into the complicated relationship between CBD and drug tests, there are a few things we need to consider. The first of which, is the ever-popular craze of CBD, and how the unregulated marketplace is potentially full of lies. This is a supremely vague statement, I’m aware of that, but I am more than happy to elaborate.

Everything You Need To Know About CBD & Drug Tests

In order to do that adequately, let’s first put ourselves in the shoes of a common CBD enthusiast, who doesn’t have much knowledge about this specific cannabinoid product, other than they know it’s legal and non-psychoactive. They are not looking to get “high,” like most CBD consumers. They are merely looking for some mental and physical relief, in the most medicinal, therapeutic way possible.

So, with that in mind, they head over to their local grocery store, find their CBD section of products, and begin to skim through their various items. They finally lock on a CBD medium that suits their specific needs, buy it, take it home, and use it. No big deal, right? Well, actually, there might be some underlying issues that this person isn’t even aware about.

By that I mean, most of these CBD companies, because their market is void of rules and regulations, are, more often than not, lying directly to their customers. They “claim” their CBD products are all-natural, void of chemicals and pesticides, and can deliver a wide array of calming, tranquil effects. However, when tested in a professional lab, experts have discovered that there is almost no truth to any of these claims.

These scientists routinely unearth a multitude of harmful pesticides and damaging chemicals in these products. And, in addition to that, these companies rarely deliver the advertised amount of CBD in their items. Results often come back proving that they only have a fraction of that non-psychoactive cannabinoid in their line of products. Which is incredibly shocking, in itself, but things get a bit more intricate, once people realize that a majority of these products also contain THC.

That’s right.

Believe it or not, there’s a healthy amount of CBD products out there, available damn near everywhere, that contain various amounts of THC.

Now, you may be asking why these CBD products would even bother with the addition of THC in the first place. But, for those who may not know, THC actually helps enhance the calming powers of CBD. If the ratio is correct, the psychoactive effects of THC never occur. Instead, they fuel the therapeutic powers of CBD in their wake, and that usually results in the consumer feeling far more comfortable and pain-free.

Which sounds like a “win, win,” right? Well, you’d be correct for the most part, until a drug test comes along.

See, when a company decides to drug test their employees, especially for cannabis, they are only looking for THC in a person’s system. They could care less about CBD, mainly because it doesn’t impair one’s thinking or functionality. Thus, it wouldn’t affect their work in any way, shape, or form. However, if they see a bit of THC in the test results, they may assume that you aren’t in the right mindset to take on your required duties, and in turn, you may lose your job.

And all of that would happen, simply because the CBD products you were relying on for calm, non-psychoactive comfort, actually had THC hidden in them – even if they clearly stated on the package that there was no THC whatsoever.

It’s a cruel twist of fate, I know, but it’s happening more and more these days. And it all comes down to regulations needed in the CBD market.

So, in short, does CBD show up on a drug test? Nope. Because there is no test for CBD.

But, if you have inadvertently (or purposefully) taken a CBD product, that has trace amounts of THC in it, to help boost its effects, then the answer to that question is a resounding, “probably.”

However, that said, if you are still hoping to utilize the peaceful powers of CBD, without fearing a failed drug test, you should plan to do all of your CBD shopping at a trusted, fully-vetted dispensary.

If you grab your CBD products from an unverified source, like a liquor store or supermarket, you run the risk of purchasing, and subsequently using, inferior, potentially-harmful items.

There are no required regulations in this marketplace, especially in the public sector like this. But, if you go to a dispensary, they are required, by law, to have lab-tested products. In doing so, they learn everything there is to know about a product, including whether a CBD item has THC in it or not .

Armed with that confidence and statistical data, you can then continue on with your CBD infatuation, knowing that you are now enjoying a pure, THC-free product. That, in my opinion, is the only surefire way to know that your CBD use won’t negatively affect a drug test.

At the end of the day, it all comes back to education and trust. If you teach yourself what to look for in a CBD product, in addition to doing background research on specific companies, you’ll be able to quickly discern if a CBD item is potentially lethal, tainted, or harboring some unknown amount of THC.

And the “trust” comes into play when you finally find a dispensary (or cannabis delivery service) that consistently delivers high quality products, and isn’t afraid to divulge all sorts of details surrounding any product they make available to their customers, CBD included. That sort of transparency goes a long way, especially if it can help you avoid losing your job for no good reason.

These cannabis experts will help you find just the right product for your specific situation. I mean, that’s why budtenders are there in the first place, right? So, you may as well utilize their wealth of knowledge while you can. No sense in just sheepishly trying to figure it out on your own. Open up, ask questions, and be honest with them about what you’re searching for. I guarantee you, in no time, they will guide you towards a cannabis product that’ll suit your needs perfectly.

And that goes double for CBD – trust me.
