Birthday Cake by Polaris is a jaunty sativa strain born from a cross between Girl Scout Cookies and Cherry Pie. With genetics like that, you know it’s going to be pretty good.

Appearance 4/5
The buds spill out of the black Polaris bag like little green rocks. The color appears yellowish in the light. You need better eyes than mine to detect the trichome coating, though. These buds look like they’ll crumble into dust the moment you touch them. However, I don’t mind that because they’re so plentiful. It looks like more than a gram, in my opinion. Also, I’m one of the few people on Earth who thinks that dry weed is a good thing, but that’s a subject for another day.

Aroma 4/5
Take a big whiff, folks. This is an ideal weed aroma. It’s the type of scent that wafts over a lush field of cannabis. The Girl Scout Cookies origins are lost in the scent profile, but there is an interesting peppery smell that undercuts the plant-like notes.

Taste 5/5
Imagine digging into your couch cushions and pulling out a piece of candy. Now imagine popping the treat into your mouth, instead of in the trash. Birthday Cake is a lot like that. The flavor is sweet and appealing, yet there is an odd, stale twinge to it. It shouldn’t be enticing, but it is.

Effect 5/5
Smoking a Birthday Cake puff is like taking a shot of espresso. The energy rush is instant and overwhelming. I was dancing on my toes before finishing the first puff. Do you need to clean your room? Go to the DMV? This is what this type of weed is for. It makes horrendously boring tasks more interesting. I feel as though I could even smile through a trip to the dentist, I’m so peppy.

Treat yo’ self. It’s a philosophy that Las Vegans proudly endorse. We live in a climate of lavish self-indulgence and decadence. A gram of Birthday Cake fits that bill perfectly. It’s a treat that you don’t need to wait for. Every single day is worth celebrating with Birthday Cake.

Birthday Cake by Polaris is a fun strain suited for wild nights in Vegas. Forget about liquid courage, you can get a social boost, without the hangover, by smoking a few Birthday Cake puffs. ShowGrow is a bit out of the way, if you’re a tourist. But, it is a decent spot for locals, if you happen to live in, or around the area.

ShowGrow
is a solid locals’ dispensary. It’s nowhere near the Strip. Instead, the store is tucked into a busy shopping mall on a thriving patch of Ft. Apache. It’s a consumer’s paradise. Walmart beckons down the street. At least three separate gas stations are visible, each vying for attention. Fast food restaurants and tiny cafes dot the space in-between.

ShowGrow’s building is white and squat, with its greenish logo emblazoned at the top. Inside, you’re confronted with a security guard and receptionist. If the showroom isn’t too busy, you’ll be handed a number and allowed inside instantly. It’s mostly empty space, with a row of display cases lined up in a U-shape along the back of the room. The budtenders stand behind the cases calling out numbers.

This isn’t the worst dispensary that I’ve ever been inside. The wait wasn’t too bad, either. However, it’s hard to come up with any reason why I should go back. The inventory seemed limited, and the prices were abundantly average. I signed up for their text alerts, so maybe I’ll change my mind in the future.

There was actually a decent amount of flower here. Most of the deficiency was with their concentrates and edibles, to be honest. I could see a chocolate bar or two, along with some gummies, but not much else. This isn’t a big deal if you’re not looking for edibles, though. So, perhaps this sort of sight doesn’t affect you.
