Chocolope is a strong sativa dominant created by crossing Chocolate Thai and Cannalope Haze. Bred by DNA Genetics to pay homage to the chocolate strains popular in the 1980s. Chocolope is known for its earthy coffee flavor, hefty buds, and strong mood elevation.
The buds were a vibrant green with dark violet shades covering large areas of most of the nugs. The trichomes were easily noticeable with the naked eye, and the bright orange hairs in long twists poked out of every possible crevice. The buds were super crispy and crumbled with the slightest pressure. I’m more used to the buds I get from Sol being less crispy and kind having more of a freshness to the nugs.
Opening the jar, I was met with a strong fragrance of herbal and earthy cannabis, candy, and coffee. The aroma was so wonderful I eagerly buried my nose in the container and took a deep whiff. I found the herbal fragrance had a touch of mint to it, and the coffee and candy aroma blended wonderfully with the earthy aroma to make what smelled like chocolate covered coffee beans. All cannabis should smell this good.
The chocolate and coffee in the aroma transitioned beautifully into the taste. I could almost have just popped a chocolate coffee candy in my mouth except, there was some harshness to smoking this strain. The earthy aroma was present in the flavor towards the end of the bowl, with the mint disappearing entirely. The mint might have helped combat the harshness, and the little coughing I did was the only negative.
Smoking Chocolope I felt energized and lifted within a few hits off my bowl. I felt happy and more connected with the world around me. I was ready to tackle my chores and chase my dogs. The effects faded within a couple hours, and I found myself packing another bowl a little faster than other strains. The effects were strong while they lasted, and I wasn’t opposed to having some more chocolate candy.
Product price: $25 per eighth (1/8th)
I found Chocolope to be a great daytime strain. I found it useful for making mundane things seem more interesting, a little mood elevation and energy boost. Users who look for a sweeter taste in their herb will love the flavor of this strain. I feel this strain is more for active smoking, and I think it would be great for a nature hike.
The buds were gorgeous with their crystals and amazingly long twisted little hairs, but they were so crispy they crumbled with the slightest pressure. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing; I’m just used to getting less crispy buds from Sol. The aroma was strong as a wonderful combination of minty herbs, chocolate, and coffee. The flavor was a little harsh, but still a wonderful taste of chocolate coffee candy. The effects wore off a little faster than other strains, but were wonderful strong sativa, giving me an energy and mood boost.

Sol is a unique dispensary located between Reno and Carson City in the gorgeous Washoe City. There are a lot of things that make Sol unique, as this company seems to be approaching the cannabis market differently than other dispensaries in the area.
First, Sol grows their marijuana onsite in a greenhouse. This is a real greenhouse that uses natural sunlight to grow the plants. They do this organically, without harsh chemicals that might show up in the flavor of their cannabis. Next, they display a portion of the greenhouse to customers, with growing plants visible and labeled. There is a waiting area with coffee and tea, and a long walkway that displays a small amount of merchandise, but more prominently the walkway displays the flower available for purchase on one wall, other cannabis products in the middle, and trophies that Sol has won for their marijuana in different competitions.
I love going to Sol. It’s a bit of a drive for me, but I feel it’s very worth it. After checking in, I lingered at the greenhouse window, looking at tall marijuana plants that had full buds on them. I saw Bob Saget, White Rhino, and more, all displaying gorgeous and very different flowers.
My budtender was very friendly and helpful. He definitely had pride in his work and knew a lot about the products available. I could easily spend a few hours hanging out at Sol just looking at the flowers and talking with the knowledgeable staff.
