So, you’ve finally decided it was time to try cannabis for the first time. Awesome!

First off, kudos to you for making a wise choice.

And, rest assured, you are not the only one just getting their cannabis career off the ground. More and more people are starting to embrace the litany of healing powers that marijuana is famous for, especially with all of these states continuing to legalize its use and sale within their fine borders.

Tips On How To Have A Great First Experience With Cannabis

Now, perhaps, you have chosen to stiff-arm cannabis because of its past illegal status, or maybe you’ve been too timid to ever dive in until now. Either way, you’re going to want this first experience to be enjoyable. And, for the most part, it will be.

Partaking in cannabis is an amazingly relaxing way to unwind, and relieve your mind and body of unwanted stress and tension. However, there are certain measures and mindsets you should have in place, to increase the chances of your maiden smoke session going off without a hitch.

The very first thing you should remember is, even though it’s your first encounter with cannabis, you shouldn’t expect to get high instantly. In fact, given that it is your first time with marijuana, there’s a substantial likelihood that the effects won’t even “take” to your low tolerance.

This could be because you didn’t partake in the bud in the proper fashion, or maybe, you simply didn’t hold your hit in for an adequate amount of time. Whatever the case may be, don’t fret, stoney bliss is right around the corner – so don’t give up, my burgeoning bud lover. Just keep trying, you’ll figure it out.

Speaking of smoking, let’s focus on that for a moment.

You may remember the old Bill Clinton quote, when he was asked about his marijuana use, to which he famously replied, “…I did not inhale.” Essentially, he was saying he got to the precipice of smoking cannabis, but at the last second, stopped himself, and exhaled the hit before inhaling it into his lungs.

Now, if that’s not the largest pile of B.S., I don’t know what is.

Anyway, tall tales aside, if you want cannabis to release its effects onto your body and mind, you have to let it in.

And the best way to do that, is to inhale your hit, hold it momentarily, and comfortably exhale the smoke. If you cough, no worries, that’s totally normal, especially for someone in your rookie position. Just envision the hit gently filling your lungs before exhaling, and you should be off to the races.

Another thing that’s nice to have around during your first smokeout are some refreshing beverages.

I wouldn’t recommend anything alcoholic in nature, though, as you’ll want to maintain the optimal level of composure during your first encounter with cannabis. Water is always a solid option, in my opinion. Then, when you find yourself a touch thirsty, or in the throes of your first cottonmouth experience, you can reach for that trusty beverage of yours, and replenish your body in the matter of just a few sips.

Which, not for nothing, will only increase the enjoyability of the high that’s soon to set in.

Now, as a first-time smoker, the chances of you having a cabinet full of exquisite pieces is highly unlikely. So, you’ll either want to grab some papers from a smoke shop, or invest in a tiny, pocket-sized pipe – nothing special or expensive, mind you. Just something that’ll “get the job done,” so to speak. You can find both of those items for well under $10 at most places.

However, I’d suggest going the pipe route for your initial steps into the world of cannabis. That way, you don’t need to know how to roll anything. You simply have to break down the bud, which can be easily done with your fingers, and place those floral fragments inside the bowl of the pipe, and proceed from there.

I’d urge you against smoking blunts the first time out, however.

Blunt wraps typically have a fair amount of nicotine in them, which can heighten the head-rush element of the session. Now, some welcome that with open arms, but I feel like it makes the marijuana effects tougher to discern, while in the presence of a tobacco-laden wrap.

So, again, I’d say just go for the pipe. It’s the easiest way to go about it, in my personal opinion.

Now, let’s anticipate that this first session of yours is going swimmingly, and you end up nice and high when everything is said and done. Awesome – job well done!

So, before we get into the session, itself, let’s think about what you’d want during that first high ahead of time. That way, you don’t have to interact with anyone, or leave your “safe space,” in order to feel completely satisfied.

For starters, I’d say have some of your favorite snacks (or meals) on deck. Anything that you don’t have to prepare is best, as you’ll want to focus all of your attention on your newfound high. Also, you could utilize the services of any food delivery app you can think of. Either way, have a plan in place for when those inevitable “munchies” kick in.

Trust me, when they hit, you’ll be happy that you did this preemptive culinary preparation.

Also, when you’re high, especially for the first time, you are not going to want to have to any other responsibilities, other than just chilling the hell out. So, before you even fire up that bud, be sure to cancel any plans you may have had, clear up that schedule, and ensure that the only thing you have left on the docket is sitting back, relaxing, and getting stoned for the very first time!

Lastly, make sure you partake in your bud in a comfortable, familiar environment, and with people you trust. Like a few lifelong friends, for example.

You don’t want your first weed experience to be in a back alley somewhere, with a total stranger. You’ll want to establish a comfortable, trusted setting for your first session. And, personally, I think the best way to do that is with a small group of buddies, in your own apartment/house. That always works for me, at least.

Alright, that’s pretty much it, folks.

If you choose to adhere to these important tips and tricks, they should help you create the ideal environment for your first smoke session to be a memorable, enjoyable experience.
