While folks my age tend to spend holidays (specifically Halloween) drinking themselves into oblivion, I can’t help but harbor back to fond thoughts from my childhood. Though I was never the biggest fan of costumes, nor knocking on the doors of strangers in my neighborhood, I couldn’t help but participate in this late October tradition for one reason, and one reason only: candy.I’m sure I’m not the only one with a soft spot in my heart for sweet treats. Typically, after a night on the town with my buddies, I would come home with a pillowcase full of candies that I couldn’t wait to divvy up and trade for upgrades. While many found themselves partial to the “big names” (Snickers, Milky Way, etc.), I, too, had my sights set on one particular type of delectable treat that I was willing to trade everything for. There is something truly unbeatable about that chocolate and peanut butter combination that I simply can’t get enough of. To be honest, I’m still just as big of a fan of these little cupped confections as I was as a child. They are the epitome of a perfect treat. Well, a “near” perfect treat, I should say. As wonderful as these babies were to enjoy, I always knew they were missing a little something that could really take them “above and beyond” so to speak. What was that little thing…? Why, cannabis, of course!Imagine it. The same traditional taste of a classic peanut butter cup, only now enriched with all the amazingness that cannabis is famous for. Wow. If that doesn’t pique your interest, you may want to check your pulse, because that sounds downright phenomenal to me.Armed with a lifetime of admiration for any and all things Reese’s, I decided to share with you, my fellow stoners, this amazing recipe for Cannabis Peanut Butter Cups that is sincerely unbelievable. While they make look daunting to create on your own, I assure you that this recipe is so simple, even the most culinary challenged of you could create a batch with ease. However, before we get into anything, we need to make sure we have some cannabis-infused butter on hand. Now, cannabis-infused butter can be picked up at your local dispensary or you could challenge yourself to make it at home. I enjoy whipping up a batch of my own because not only does it last longer than the typical tiny tub you get from the cannabis club, but it is way more cost-effective in the long run. If you are like me and want to make some cannabis-infused butter at home, there are a couple ways to go about it. I have already detailed the process on how to do this properly in another recipe, and I strongly urge you all to check that out before moving forward. But, if you are in a hurry to get things going, you can do one of the following.First you could take your ganja (in this case, almost 1 ½ oz. of premium shake) and place atop a baking sheet. Then place that cannabis covered sheet into your preheated oven at 240°. This subtle heat activates the psychoactive component of marijuana, more commonly known as, THC. After that, you take your decarboxylated marijuana and combine it with normal, melted butter. Then, with the help of a cheesecloth to rid the final product of any unwanted floral components, simply strain it into a separate container for safe keeping. Finally, toss that sucker into the fridge until it hardens, like butter normally does. However, there’s also a speedier, but not always as effective route, that one could take involving a microwave. You could take your ground up bud and some butter, and throw them into a microwaveable bowl, and “nuke” it for a couple of minutes. When that timer chimes, take it out, and stir vigorously before placing it inside the fridge to harden. Yes, this could technically work, but you don’t have as much control over the heat with this route – which could, ultimately, burn your weed and render it utterly useless. These ingredients may seem like a lot, but trust me, when you realize you’ve just made a ton of Cannabis Peanut Butter Cups, you’ll be smiling from ear to ear, as you gaze upon your THC-infused bounty of sweet treats. Instructions
- Now that you have assembled all your ingredients and procured yourself some cannabis-infused butter, you’re going to want to find a microwave safe bowl. In it, toss in your cannabis-infused butter, along with your peanut butter. Throw that in the microwave for a couple minutes, and be sure to stir it thoroughly once it comes out.
- Once you think everything has been combined expertly, throw in some vanilla extract and pow-dered sugar. Again, be sure to mix everything in very, very well. This will become your delicious filling, and you want to make sure to spread those flavors around to ensure a quality experience on each and every bite.
- After that mixing session is complete, toss this mixture into the fridge for 30 or so minutes.
- Using some wax paper and a muffin tin, you are going to create the cups. Trace the perimeter of the cup inlets on the wax paper. Cutting them out, effectively, turns them into the bottom of your soon-to-be-made Cannabis Peanut Butter Cups. Once you have cut them all out, strategically place them at the bottom of each opening in the tin, and be sure to line the sides with wax paper, as well – to avoid any sticking during the cooking process.
- Atop these circles, is where you will place roughly a dollop of melted chocolate. This, as you can already assume, will serve as the bottom layer of our cups.
- Once you’ve filled each hole, throw it in the freezer to firm up for 10 or so minutes.
- At this point, head back to the fridge and start rolling little balls of your infused peanut butter mixture in the palm of your hands. After you’ve “balled up” your entire mixture, grab that muffin tin from the freezer, and start placing these newly rolled peanut butter balls on top of the chocolate bottom.
- Be sure to press gently on the PB balls because, remember, this is your filling – not your topping – and there’s still going to be a good amount of chocolate poured on top to complete the cup.
- Once each inlet in the muffin tin is full of your chocolate-peanut butter-chocolate mixture, throw it into the freezer for another half hour. When that time period has elapsed, you may retrieve your Cannabis Peanut Butter Cups from the freezer, and carefully remove each one (along with its subsequent wax paper), and that’s it!
- No oven needed!
- Now all you have to do is sit back and watch your friends go NUTS for these amazing Cannabis Peanut Butter Cups that you just made from scratch. Nicely done!
