Things are upside-down right now. Nearly everyone in America, and the world at large, is self-quarantining inside their homes to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. If you’re using cannabis as a way to escape the doom and gloom that can be everyday life right now, and I feel you. But falling into the same routines every time you get high can be a downer in itself.

If you’re looking for some things to do while high during this quarantine, I’m here to offer some suggestions. Whether you’re looking to escape fear, cure boredom, or just have some fun alone (or with your partner), here are a few stoner-friendly activities to try while quarantined.

Beat The Quarantine Blues With These Time-Consuming Activities

Go on a Walk, Run, or Bike Ride
While under quarantine, we’re currently still clear to be outside and enjoy the outdoors. Getting exercise and fresh air is key to not getting stir crazy. Going outside while stoned can be a highly meditative experience. Get out to the nearest forest preserve and observe nature, or stroll through your neighborhood, and appreciate the community you have. Realize that everyone is going through this epidemic together, and you are not alone. Listen to some music or podcasts, or listen to the local birds and wildlife that are out and about around you. If you’re looking to really workout while high, Harlequin’s high 5:2 CBD to THC ratio makes it an excellent option.

Cook (or Order) a Delicious Meal
At the time of this article, food isn’t scarce, and hopefully, it never will be. But suffice it to say, many are worried about food. Cooking a meal while high is a great way to appreciate the food we have, what it does for our bodies, and (of course) how incredible it can taste.

So, during these quarantine days, try taking some time to cook a great meal: if you can plan it out and can get specific ingredients, great — if not, take up the challenge of making something tasty with what you have on hand. Appreciate the chemistry of cooking, chop, saute, and season mindfully, then savor your dish when it’s done.

Alternatively, you can treat yourself by ordering something in that you’ve been craving. Ordering in during this time supports food service workers and local businesses, which is a huge plus. Just be sure to take precautions when handling food containers.

Build an Indoor Fort
Just because you haven’t done this since you were 7, doesn’t mean it still isn’t fun! Building an indoor fort is a blast when stoned. Planning out where to set up your blanket shelter, building a cushioned floor of pillows, and even decorating the interior, really engages your joyful creativity and can bring out your inner child. What better metaphor to escape the outside world for a bit than a fort, am I right?

Once inside your fort, take time doing whatever brings you joy. Reading, writing, video games, whatever floats your boat when you’re stoned. Of course, if your partner is in the fort with you, maybe one thing leads to another…and who knows where the night will take you.

Make Something Creative
If you have a hobby, whether it’s playing music, painting, writing, or anything creative, and you  haven’t tried doing it while high, this should be number one on the priority list for you. It doesn’t matter whether you’re doing it for others, or just for yourself, making art is an incredible experience, and one of the best things to do while high. Look for cannabis strains that stimulate your creative side and give a tinge of euphoria, like AK-47. You’ll likely find ideas coming quickly, while your self-doubt melts away.

Appreciate Art
We’re all trapped inside. There’s not really anywhere to go, so what are we supposed to do? Now’s the time to get high and put a classic record on, watch an awesome movie, or just gaze into that sweet Santana blacklight poster in your room. Many experience a deeper connection to art when high. New details in an old favorite song emerge, an interesting cut in a movie gives you new appreciation for the editor, or words on a page mean more when you’re high. And, with our outside distractions limited while we’re under quarantine, what better time to roll up (or pack) a strain like Blue Dream, and really dig in to some art and/or music?

Use Social Media (The Good Way)
In recent years, social media has rightfully been criticized for making users unhappy through unhealthy comparisons to others, bullying, and a dependence on instant gratification. But, in the early days of our pandemic-induced quarantine, people have been using social media in a much healthier way. There are countless performers streaming live shows from their houses, memes that make it possible for us to laugh through this difficult time, and in general, a lot of lighthearted, positive vibes are going around.

Using social media while stoned can be a mixed bag for many. If I’m in a glowing sort of high, I’m more generous in sending likes and positive comments to others. In the past few days, browsing Facebook, Instagram, and even Tik Tok, while high has left me feeling inspired and connected to others, rather than anxious and depressed. Give it a try!

Take Time to “Zoom Out”
Being confined to your house, apartment, or room can have a detrimental effect on your psyche. If you’re not able to get outside as often as you like, getting high can offer you a great chance to expand your horizons during this shut-in time.

Mixing sativa strains with thoughts, discussions, and reflections of what’s out there can be an enlightening experience, and one of the best things to do while high. The methods and materials are all up to the user. For you, it might be a simple practice of silent meditation or yoga. Perhaps there’s a religious or spiritual text that resonates with you. Or maybe, it’s watching footage or looking at photos of space, and realizing our incomprehensibly small place in the universe. Whatever gets you to look outside yourself, and your current situation, to bring comfort is the key here.

Take on a Project
If you’ve experimented with different Best Cannabis Strains to Fight Cancer Pain, you may have found a few that sharpen your focus and help you stay engaged in routine tasks that otherwise feel dull. Sour Diesel and Green Crack have been praised for their effects here. Whichever strain you choose, use it as an aid to finally do some spring cleaning, paint a room, or finish a puzzle. Doing longer tasks like these while high is a great way to pass through the day while maintaining a meditative state of flow. Afterwards, take some time to enjoy the feelings of accomplishment and pride. You’ve earned them!

I hope some of my suggestions of things to do while high interest you. This time of self-quarantining is a great chance to grow, self-reflect, and try new experiences. Cannabis can be a great aid in expanding your horizons, so pairing it with a new experience can be super fun. And just remember — we’re all going through this pandemic together, so know that you’re not alone in feeling bored, nervous, scared, or weirdly at peace. It’s all valid.
