Politics are often a “sticky” subject to take on. There probably isn’t a more polarizing topic of conversation on the planet. Which, to be honest, is likely why the topic is avoided altogether in most social interactions. Learning how someone leans politically, can often result in a litany of unforeseen judgment and criticisms. And understandably so. Seeing how a person feels about politics definitely says a lot about their character.

But, regardless of how you feel about politics, there are certain undeniable aspects of this realm of society that cannot be ignored, debated, or overlooked. One such politician who fits that criteria is the super popular, incredibly polarizing presidential candidate, Bernie Sanders.

This man, for lack of a better term, has always been on the right side of history. Whether it was photos of him walking during the civil rights movement, or footage of him from a few years ago, fighting for the rights of American citizens in dire need of universal health care, this man has been at the forefront of every element of society for decades now. And, in my personal opinion, I believe he’s the next logical step for this nation to take in order to right the wrongs that were implemented by our current Commander-In-Chief.

Not only is Bernie Sanders a decorated and beloved American politician, but he’s one of the “good ones.” By that I mean his life is completely void of scandal. He’s got one of the purest hearts that Congress has ever seen. I doubt we’ve ever witnessed a person, besides Obama, who had this much integrity, passion, and experience helping this country be the best it can be.

Yes, he’s faced his fair share of obstacles. The main one being constant attacks from his political constituents, claiming he’s too socialist to ever be elected President of the United States. But their faint cries of propaganda-laced statements routinely fall on deaf ears. Their heightened claims are only testatments to how scared they are of their own political futures should Bernie, or anyone even remotely like him, ever get elected to the highest office in the world.

Back when Bernie initially ran for the office of President of the United States, he wasn’t shy about sharing his true feelings on a number of different issues. One of the most memorable of those issues was obviously pertaining to the potential legalization and decriminalization of marijauna in this country. In 2016, he became the very first presidential candidate ever to have a pro-cannabis platform, and needless to say, it was not overlooked.

And, for those who are unaware with Mr. Sanders, he isn’t one to shy away from a good debate. He’s more than forthright about his opinions and feelings. So, when his peers and opponents started to question his pro-cannabis stance and policies, he didn’t just cower to their criticisms and dance around the subject to please their closed-minded sensibilities.

No, that’s not how Bernie gets down.

Since he started talking about coast-to-coast legalization of cannabis during his presidential campaign years ago, he’s only dug his heels deeper into the sand that is the cannabis community, and it’s needed for nationwide decriminalization and societal acceptance.

For far too long, there has been a litany of negative stigmas attached to marijuana and its use. And, when analyzed, it’s easy to see that the federal government is behind most of it. They even categorized cannabis as a “Schedule One” substance, alongside heroin and cocaine.

This obnoxious distinction on the federal government’s part meant two things.

One, it meant that cannabis was now seen as an illegal substance in the eyes of the government. So, even if your state legalized its use, the federal government, should they deem it necessary, could come in and penalize anyone they want for their involvement in the cannabis community.

Secondly, it meant that laboratories were strictly prohibited from conducting worthwhile tests on cannabis, and it’s a multitude of effects on the human body and mind. Which may be the biggest detriment of that whole ordeal.

The more we can educate ourselves on marijuana, and how (and why) it specifically affects our bodies and minds in one way or another is crucial. The more knowledge we have, the more streamlined our cultivation and growing can be. It will help growers specify their strains more specifically to help deliver a more reliable series of benefits and effects. In short, it would be a massive step towards progress.

But, for one reason or another, the federal government has always stood in the way of marijuana, and its subsequent decriminalization. Not Bernie Sanders, though. He’s always been pro-cannabis, and he doesn’t care who knows it.

And, don’t worry, Bernie. We’re all well aware of your stance on marijuana, and we love you for it. Hell, even celebrities are spreading the good word about Bernie Sanders and his pro-THC approach towards the presidential campaign.

Killer Mike (famous rapper, actor, and activist) has always been in Bernie’s corner. He’s not shy about conducting interviews on various news channels to praise the candidate from Vermont for his contributions to the cannabis community.

Recently, during an interview with MSNBC, Killer Mike didn’t shy away from sharing his thoughts on how Bernie Sanders paved the way for the recent cannabis boom that the country is currently in the throes of. Specifically, Killer Mike said, “Marijuana decriminalization was something I never thought I’d see in my lifetime. Yet, within four years, I’ve seen a nationwide push for it, in big part to his campaign.”

And if you thought that’s all he had to say about Sanders, you’d be dead wrong. Killer Mike continued to elaborate on his previous statement, adding, “How does that affect me as the father of a 17-year-old boy? If my son gets caught with marijuana, it could ruin his life for the rest of his life. Now, we have an environment where he literally will get scolded as a child and get a chance to be a fruitful adult without a felony on his record. I think that that resonates in our community.”

This isn’t the first time Mike has made such a statement in public. This past September, Mike was speaking at one of Bernie’s town hall events in North Carolina, when he uttered another statement about the importance of marijuana legalization.

During which, he said, “We have an opportunity this time to take the people that are exiting jail, have expunged records and creating a pathway as wide as this aisle directly to legal marijuana and creating economic sustainability in the same communities that were robbed of that opportunity.”

Killer Mike, as you could probably assume, isn’t the only celebrity of his kind to come forward with positive messages about cannabis legalization. And he’s making sure everyone else knows that, too.

Speaking on that matter, Killer Mike commented, “We know that with national decriminalization of marijuana now, a lot of people are going to get credit for it – a lot of activists, a lot of workers. But I can show you a line that leads straight back to Cypress Hill, that leads straight back to Snoop Dogg, that leads straight back to people like Rick James.”
