  • 1/4 cup Butter regular, not-infused

  • 3/4 Sugar
  • 1 box Jell-O whatever your favorite flavor may be

Any cannabis enthusiast over the age of, well, let’s say 18, has had their fair share of candy in their time on this Earth. To be completely honest, the majority of American children spend the bulk of their childhoods sampling and tasting all sorts of candies. Rare are the times when a kid pushes away the chance at trying a new treat.
Which is a bit confusing, seeing as how most children are the epitome of “picky eaters.” They won’t try this or that at the dinner table, regardless of how kid-friendly the parents may have prepared a meal. But, when a mysterious package with the word “Candy” on it is slid their way, they welcome it with open arms (and taste buds). And I completely understand that. For children, candy (and its sugary components) are a delicious source of energy. They react the same way to candy, as coffee drinkers react to a freshly poured cup of an otherwise unknown brew.
But, while there is nothing but options when it comes to confections and candies these days, one of the most classic, most beloved mediums of these flavored, sugary delights is the traditional lollipop. Not only are lollipops (or “suckers”) tasty and satisfying – they are examples of how a candy’s design can be perfected and stand the test of time.
Far too often, children are left with chocolate-covered faces or sticky, sugar-laden fingers and hands. But with a lollipop, and its handy-dandy stick, it makes the entire eating experience a total success. Gone are the days of necessary clean-up after dessert. Anything that makes the life of a parent easier – the better.
Obviously, I am just alluding to the original, non-cannabis-infused version of these classic treats at this point. I am in no way suggesting that children partake in these potent pieces of candy. Quite the opposite. I am simply trying to paint a culinary picture, via shared sense memories from our candy-filled childhoods.
Like any other positive experience from one’s youth, it often makes a reappearance in that person’s adulthood. Why wouldn’t it? If something was so scrumptious all those years ago, it stands to reason that that same level of tasty success will transfer itself over decades later.

Such seems to be the case with the classic lollipop.
To be honest, you would be hard-pressed to find anybody who doesn’t like a sucker from time to time. While it may not find itself in the standard rotation of treats like it used to, there is always a healthy amount of nostalgia attached to these suckers that the average candy consumer just can’t get enough of – myself included.
While a solid lollipop can be a great dessert option every now and then, it tends to fall short of the high bar we, as children, saw it catapult over with ease. Which begs the question: What is the difference between now and then? More importantly, how can I launch this once-beloved confectionary treat back to its heightened level of candy stardom that it once enjoyed on a regular basis?

In short, the answer is: hash.
That is right, my fellow stoners. I am more than happy to announce my latest cannabis-related recipe, Hash-Infused Lollipops.
Before you get all dizzy from excitement, let’s make sure you have all the proper ingredients to make this culinary dream of cannabis greatness a reality, shall we?Alrighty, let’s get into it!

Instructions

  • The very first step that you will want to do is thoroughly spray your cookie sheet with the non-stick cooking spray of your choice. Then, grab your lollipop sticks (roughly 15-20) and place them evenly atop the newly sprayed cookie sheet. Don’t have a cookie sheet? No problem – a standard confectionery mold works perfectly in its place. So, it is really your choice.
  • Once that quick step has been completed, pick up a small bowl (cereal or soup size) and dump in your desired Jell-O mixture. Then, you are going to want to take that two grams of hash, and severely break it down into a super fine powder, which you will subsequently add into the Jell-O mixture currently waiting to be enhanced.
  • At this point, your initial “set-up” steps are complete. So, let’s really dive into this super-simple recipe.
  • Head on over to your stove, and turn on your most reliable burner. You are going to want to keep the temperature at a relatively low level, so as not to burn (or ruin) the recipe. Atop this burner, place a saucepan. Make sure to attach your candy thermometer to this, in order to keep track of the temperature of the lollipop mix throughout the process. Trust me, this will come in handy.
  • In the saucepan, toss in the corn syrup, butter, and sugar. Don’t forget to gently stir while adding these crucial ingredients. You will want all of these elements to blend seamlessly with one another. Keep that going until the entire combination starts to boil. Once you have reached this part of the process, you can completely bail on the stirring aspect of the procedure altogether, and slightly increase the heat of the burner.
  • Since we are making lollipops, we are going to want the sugar in these bad boys to be sturdy. So, a good rule of thumb that I have found is to aim for somewhere around 250-260 degrees. Be sure to keep an eye on that thermometer in order to properly gauge the level of heat. Then, once you have reached that adequate level of warmth, carefully discard the candy thermometer from the pan, and slowly pour in your hash/Jell-O mixture from the tiny bowl that you previously prepared.
  • As soon as it is all in there stir, stir, stir. It is paramount that you mix in these contents the moment they are added, mainly because you don’t want the confection to even have an opportunity to cool down – heat is key.
  • Using a metal measuring spoon, remove a tablespoon’s worth of the infused candy and place it in your mold or on your cookie sheet. Regardless of where this combination is “landing” make sure it is in a solid place for the lollipop sticks to adhere to it in a semi-evenly distributed fashion.
  • Honestly, that is pretty much it. The only thing you will need to do at this point is just let those babies cool down.
  • Yes, you can throw them in the fridge for a quicker “cooling process.” Personally, I find that patience is the best virtue when it comes to creating a homemade batch of Hash-Infused Lollipops. Once they are at the appropriate tasting temperature, simply peel one off of your sheet or mold, and enjoy.

It is sincerely that simple. While some of you may not be in possession of hash (or kief, which also works for this recipe), all you would need to do is head on over to your local dispensary, and ask your trusted budtender for some. If the prices of hash (or kief) aren’t exactly “budget-friendly” for your current financial situation, may I suggest investing in a grinder that is equipped with a hidden “kief catcher.” It is a great way to get the most out of your flowers.
